    Membership June 2021

The summer has started and the club is in full gear now. We currently have 271 active memberships which is a healthy number at this time of year. We have had 9 new memberships since the beginning of January and over the last 10 years we have averaged 20.5 new memberships a year. This means that we are likely to break last year’s all time high of 278 memberships. It is important to keep in mind that in recent years an increasing percentage of our membership core are social memberships which is an excellent option that many long time members have chosen to take in recent years.

I would like to extend a warm welcome to David and Brenda Bartle, and Jason and Allison Terry as our newest members to the club.

    Thanks,
    Perry Cameron

    Membership May 2021

I hope everyone is enjoying the start of the sailing season at ECSC. We currently have 269 active memberships, with 7 new members joining the club since January 1st. Both of these numbers are higher than average. I would like to extend a warm welcome to our newest members to the club:

    Richard & Holly Doying
    Justin Rardin
    Erich Rose
    Charles & Katherine Maiers

Everyone should be receiving their directories in the next few days as they are back from the printer and being mailed out now. If anyone would like a PDF version of the directory as well, please reach out to me at membership@ecsail.org and I will be happy to email you a copy.

    Thanks,

    Membership April 2021

It is shaping up to be a year returning to normalcy.  Currently we have 260 active memberships, which consist of 256 returning memberships, 3 new memberships, and one returning inactive member.  This means that there are 644 active members at the club.  We’d like to welcome our new members: Idelle Ritterskamp and Jeremy Pooler, Bob and Isabelle Spolyar, William and Martha Constantine.  Also, Jason Bewley a returning member has rejoined.

Please be sure to get your stickers applied to your boats and trailers.  I see that many of you have already done so.

I am looking for a few volunteers to put stickers on the docks this weekend for work credits.  Email membership@ecsail.org if interested.

    Membership February 2021

It is the busy time of year for Membership.  Everyday more renewal forms arrive to be processed, stickers stamped, and envelopes prepared for renewal kits.  The kits will be mailed at the beginning of March so look for them at that time.  Be sure to have your renewal forms postmarked by February 28th.  About half of you have already done so.

If you were subleasing a slip last year you still need to put yourself on the slip waiting list.  This is because until you own a slip you will get them as they become open, by lowest membership number first.  Some slip owners choose to sublease their slip late in the season only to reuse them again the next season.  For this reason, there is no guarantee that you will get a sub-lease again at the start of the season.  If you own a slip and wish to sublease or release your slip, please write your intention in the comments section.

If you own a Kayak and it is not listed as one of your boats, please write it in so I can send you a sticker for it.   All accessory watercraft such as Kayaks and paddleboards kept on the property must be registered with membership and stickered.  This applies even if you do not keep them on the racks.  Thanks, and have a great winter!

    Membership November 2020

For the last 11 years our Membership Chair, Jane Schmidt, has done a wonderful job keeping everything in order. She has decided to hang up her hat now and I will be assuming the responsibilities. My name is Perry Cameron, I have been a member since 2008 and have been active in volunteering for several officer and Chairmen positions during that time. What started almost a year ago as an endeavor to upgrade Jane’s existing Access 97 database, has turned into a change of the guard. One thing I have learned building the new database and by extension auditing the old one, is that Jane was incredibly accurate. ECSC has been in good hands for the last 11 years and I will be filling some large shoes. The membership chair is one of the most important responsibilities at our club and I will do my best to make sure it is done right.

We currently have 274 active memberships which include 687 members and dependents. This does not include the roughly 30 Purdue Sailing Club student members. Since the last Tales we have added 3 new memberships: Sabra and John Leamnson sailing a Capri 14.2, Tatiana Barton sailing an Oday 22, and Mary Ann and Jerry Titus, with their children John, Mark, and Melissa sailing a Beneteau 23.5. The club has added 24 new memberships for the year.

I know that it has been a crazy year, but please make sure if you plan on leaving your boat at the club during the winter that you have this years sticker attached so that our Harbormaster, Kenny Chapman, can easily tally up the existing boats with their current membership numbers.

    Membership September 2020

Welcome to six additional members since our last reporting:

Angela and Max Williams along with Cassidy and Ben of Zionsville, sailing a Hunter 260.
Jonathan and Rachel Schmidt of Indianapolis, sailing a Capri 16.5.
John and Lynn Walesky along with Ben, Katie & Alli of Indianapolis.
Michael & Holly Meyers along with Collin and Marin of Indy.
James & Rebecca McClung of Martinsville, sailing a J22.
Tammy Ray and Steve Moore of Indianapolis

It has been a busy season for membership with 21 new members to date.

If by chance you have not put your 2020 decals on your boat and trailer, please still do so. This will be important if your boat remains on the grounds through the winter (winter storage fee is $75, to be paid with next year’s dues).

A reminder that the AED Unit is located on the east wall of the Race Shed. It is active and ready for use and will remain so throughout the winter months.

    Membership August 2020

    Membership

Welcome to new members: Tom Ortman of Indianapolis. Also Dustin Riley and Kelsey Foster of Indy sailing a Hunter 22 and Hobie 16. This brings our total new members in 2020 to 16 which is a little lower than usual for this time of year, but better than might be expected with all that has been happening.

August to date has been a quiet month with the need to cancel our New Member orientation due to the Covid-19 issues. All new members and any prospective members are encouraged to contact Christy or me directly with any questions. Christy has offered to give private tours for new members, if interested. And as reminder, after September 1st a person can join for the remaining months of 2020 by paying just the initiation fee.
